The MacKay College is the hub for the Collegiate SEND provision where support for students is coordinated by the Assistant Principal Inclusion and the Collegiate SENCo. They work closely with and are supported by the the team of College Inclusion Coordinators, Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).
The MacKay College provides additional support and intervention for students who need it. We have a strong academic focus in ‘closing the gap’ amongst learners as well as providing nurturing and emotional support to ensure the Collegiate operates as a fully inclusive school. The MacKay College provides a safe, positive, welcoming and respectful place to work and grow as “Learners of today” and “Leaders of tomorrow”.
As a College, we offer support to students throughout the day, opening at 8.15am most mornings for Breakfast Literacy Groups and provide a supportive and nurturing environment at break time and lunch time through the Kaleidoscope Club. You will often find members of the team still in the MacKay after the end of the formal day to ensure students have an opportunity to share their experiences and seek help should they need it.
