Independent Study
As students work hard to get ready for exams and to squeeze the most out of this academic year, independent study remains a key opportunity for all students to make progress in their learning and development.
We work hard to ensure that independent study set by teachers is meaningful and worthwhile, so there is an expectation that students complete it. This is often building or practicing work completed in lessons, or sometimes preparatory work for a future lesson. If students have any questions about work set, teachers are happy to help, but students are encouraged to see them before the lesson the work is due!
All independent study is set on Google Classroom and may subjects use online platforms for aspects of this work outside lessons. If students need support with logins etc, subject teachers can often help.
Having somewhere quiet and focussed to work is important with the distractions of modern life. Students in Years 7 to 11 are welcome to use the Library until 4pm, including at break and lunch. College VI students may also use the Library after school. Independent Study Club for students in Years 7 & 8 continues to run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Contact your child’s Tutor for further information.
