Posted 19th October 2017
We will be collecting for the Love in a Box Charity Appeal this year for Children in Distress. The boxes will be taken out to Romania and handed out at various support centres for those in need in time for Christmas. The people who receive these boxes can be terminally ill, living with disabilities or living with AIDS and HIV. Your box may be the only gift they receive.
Ideas for contents – Gifts, sweets not chocolate, soap/flannel, toothbrush/paste. Brush/comb, toiletries, gloves/scarf/hats, socks and tights, hair slides, small toys, small teddy bear, notebook, pens/pencils, geometry set, felt pens, colour books/crayons, puzzle/ball/yoyo/toy cars and balloons. Please do not include chocolate, second hand toys or goods or money in the box (unless the £2 for transportation costs).
Students are welcome to complete their own box a shoebox label is on the Riddlesdown Collegaite website for printing or tutor groups can make up boxes together. Love in a box labels can also be obtained from the library or your form tutor which should be attached to the top of the shoe box.
Please bring your boxes to the library when completed. There will be a prize for the tutor group that collects the most boxes.
Please note: as your box may need to be opened by customs please wrap box and lid separately and close with rubber bands with the form attached to the lid on top, stating clearly what gender and age it is for. In addition the charity asks for a £2 donation for each box to help with the transportation cost. It will be appreciated if you can do this – please attach £2 to the top of the box also.
The collection date will be Friday 17th November from the school around 11.00am. Please deliver boxes to the library by Thursday 16th November.
Many thanks for your support.
