Year 10 Leadership Programme with Palace for Life Foundation
This term, some of our Year 10 students had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a leadership development programme run by the Palace for Life Foundation, the official charity of Crystal Palace Football Club. The sessions were designed to help students build essential leadership and life skills through a mix of classroom-based activities and practical, football-themed tasks.
Over several weeks, students explored key leadership topics such as planning and delivering events, leading in front of their peers, public speaking, and team management. A strong focus was placed on communication, confidence, and the ability to adapt plans when things don’t go as expected—an essential skill both in sport and everyday life.
The football element of the programme gave students a fun and engaging way to put their learning into practice. They created their own games and activities, took on leadership roles within groups, and learned how to adjust and modify tasks based on group needs, environment, or available resources. These sessions encouraged problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience.
To celebrate their achievements, students were invited to a special reward day at Selhurst Park, the home of Crystal Palace FC. The visit included an exclusive stadium tour, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the club, and a celebration ceremony where prizes were awarded to those who demonstrated outstanding engagement, leadership, and contribution throughout the programme.
This partnership with Palace for Life Foundation has not only developed students’ leadership potential but also given them a memorable and inspiring experience that they will carry forward into future challenges.
