Attendance (Really) Matters
Exceptional attendance to school is so important for student progress. But equally important, is when students are here, they are able to engage with our brilliant co-curricular programme and enjoy their time with friends.
We felt the value of connection during the pandemic lockdowns and were delighted to return to school when the lockdowns were over. A typical day at Riddlesdown is vibrant, challenging and engaging. We don’t want any students to miss out on their time here.
We are creating an ‘attendance really matters’ culture here at Riddlesdown. We have dedicated tutor time to celebrate excellent attendance on a weekly basis and we have a team of staff who support students and their families who are struggling to attend school. We will always do our best to make sure attendance is as high as possible through working in partnership with students and their families. That is an integral part of ‘The Riddlesdown Commitment.’
High attendance correlates with high achievement. Even attendance in the mid 90 percentile results in well over a week of learning lost. Our attendance strategy across the Collegiate is led by the Headteacher of Aquila College, Mr Lee Chapman. Mr Chapman is our Attendance Champion and is always happy to hear your ideas on how together, we can improve attendance. Remember, attendance really matters!
