British Science Week
Science Assembly
Ambassadors had presented the weekly College assemblies introducing the British Science Week- its purposes and significance. The had also demonstrated an example of how adapting new technologies and advancement in science research are impacting the textile industry by creating more environmentally sustainable and durable fabrics suited to everyday use.
Science fair on Thursday 13th March
Ambassadors had organised a lunch timer fair where they had displayed several models and experiments related to the theme of BSW 2025- Change and Adapt. They had worked diligently at the background to prepare the show! From independently researching to attending lunchtime meetings to sharing ideas and collaborating with team members were commendable. Thank you for visiting the fair as we’ve briefly conversed, the students were visibly demonstrating their passion for science.
SATRO challenge
Three teams representing each key Stages took part in Inter School SATRO competition. This is a desktop engineering competition held at St. Philomena’s School, Carshalton where the challenge was to build a vehicle to be able to launch a plastic cube over a wall using very limited resources and the models were tested by the judges at the end on a ramp and scores awarded. The scoring criteria included product design, team collaboration, functionality of the final product and frugal use of materials. Total 24 teams from secondary Schools around South London had participated. We couldn’t claim a spot in the first three places, but our students have managed to complete the challenge and produced models which were appreciated by the judges. I am very proud of each of them.
