We were delighted to welcome Dr. Jessica Wade, a lecturer of Functional Materials at Imperial College, London to our School on 1st May 2025. She is an internationally acclaimed scientist who has done some pioneering work on optoelectronic, spintronic and quantum devices, with a focus on chiral molecular materials.

Dr. Wade delivered a lecture on Future Materials and Chirality to our Yea0 r12 STEM students. One of our students Martha M commented,

“I personally found Dr. Jessica Wade’s lecture extremely fascinating, and it further inspired me and reminded me how much I really and truly want a career within STEM. Hearing intriguing facts on how Physics and Chemistry discoveries have been used in real life to make life for society better and improve how we do things for the better satisfied my scientific curiosity. My favourite parts especially were hearing about the magnetic field sensors and how they use properties of rubidium atoms in order to detect problems within the brain and how the way it was made would allow more accurate brain scans to be taken on children who tend to move around a lot. The fact that someone came up with that and connected the dots based on the information out there in order to come to that conclusion is amazing and inspirational to me and I would love to be a part of the STEM Community and have an opportunity to contribute to society in that way as well . In conclusion, I absolutely loved Dr. Jessica Wade’s lecture and would love if anything similar could happen again.”
