Maths Challenge 25th Anniversary

Select students in Year 8 took part in a special Maths Challenge that celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the UKMT. The 40-minute Maths Challenge consisted of 25 multiple-choice questions which encouraged mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.

We are very pleased to announce that of the 86 students who took part:

  • Joint third place went to Michael Forsythe (8IBD), Thomas Foyle (8IBD) and Josiah Hearn (8CCW)
  • Joint Second place went to Lilya Bruce (8CT) and Oliver Furlonger (8MLH)
  • First place went to Sonny Collins (8NSD)

Congratulations to all our students who took part, but a particular well done to those mentioned above who all received the Principal’s award and a badge for their efforts and success. We look forward to celebrating more of their Mathematical successes in the future!

The long-awaited results for the UKMT Kangaroo Maths Challenge are in!

On Thursday 2nd December, four of our Year 13 Further Mathematicians took part in the UKMT Kangaroo Challenge for which they had been specially selected to take part in due to the outstanding scores they achieved during the Senior Maths Challenge back in November.

All four students received a merit in the Kangaroo Challenge which is a fantastic achievement!

Huge congratulations to Siliva Gelina (13DDS), Matthew Ferriman (13DDS), Max Short (13DDS) and Matias van der Heijden (13EAJ) who have all worked extremely hard on this challenge and have shown us what brilliant Mathematicians they are!
