The summer is a great time for young people to recharge after a busy academic year by engaging with poetry. Through various competitions and classwork this year, many students have written some wonderful poetry.

Poetry allows young people to think really deeply and to express that thinking in unique ways. The poetry might be designed to read by the individual privately, shared more widely, or as a piece to be performed on stage.

We are encouraging our students to write some poetry during the summer holidays. If they would like to share it, we will create time through our Colleges for them to do so. They should ask their tutor next term if they wish to share their summer poems with their class.

 

Bed in Summer

In winter I get up at night

In summer, quite the other way,

I have to go to bed by day.
